How Canada Protects Critical Infrastructure From Terrorists
Presented by Brittany McBain, Supervisor of the Greater Toronto Area Criminal Analysis section and member of National Critical Infrastructure Team of the RCMP
October 18
9:00 a.m.
The Toronto Congress Centre

Over the past three years, hundreds of innocent people have died in terror attacks around the world. They have died in mass shootings and suicide bombings, at concerts and clubs, in newsrooms and while out for a walk. The attacks have taken place from Paris to Orlando, from Manchester to Ohio. What is Canada doing to prevent a similar attack here at home?

Brittany McBain is a criminal intelligence analyst and a civilian member of the RCMP. An expert on critical infrastructure security, she will provide a history of terrorist activity in Canada and outline what authorities are doing to protect our food and water supplies, transportation infrastructure, energy sector, core financial and governmental institutions as well as our communications, information technologies and manufacturing industries. She’ll consider everything from domestic threats and natural disasters to international terrorism in the Canadian context.

CM Brittany McBain has been with the RCMP since 2009. She is a Criminal Intelligence Analyst and has worked in the Ontario Integrated National Security Enforcement Team (O-INSET) Criminal Analysis Section (CAS) for more than 5 years. She was recently promoted to supervisor of the GTA CAS unit. Brittany holds the critical infrastructure portfolio for O Division, and is a member of the National Critical Infrastructure Team. She has taught on intelligence analysis, national security, and critical infrastructure matters both domestically and overseas including in Nigeria for the Canadian Police College and in Belize and Mexico for the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute. She is currently completing her MA in Intelligence and Security from the University of Leicester in the UK. Register soon as this presentation will fill up fast.
