Security Canada Central 2010 FAQs

General Information

What are the official dates of the Security Canada Central event?
Wednesday, October 20 and Thursday, October 21.
 
When does the tradeshow officially open?
The tradeshow officially opens to attendees at 10am on Wednesday, with the conferences beginning at 9:30 am.
 
However, there are still events happening before the official opening that you should be aware of:

9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. CANASA Conference Program

5:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. AGM (Annual General Meeting)
5:30 p.m.    Exposition closes
5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. CANASA Member’s Cocktail Reception
Thursday October 21
 9:00 a.m.  On Site Registration opens
 9:00 a.m.    Exhibitor Meeting at the cafeteria at the rear of show
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Manufacturers’ Training Sessions (MTS)
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. CANASA Conference Program
10:00 a.m. Exposition opens
4:00 p.m. Exposition closes
4:00 p.m. Move out – all exhibits must be removed by 11:00pm.


Who should attend Security Canada Central?
As this is a trade only show anyone involved in any aspect of the security industry is welcome to attend Security Canada Central.  
 
Where can I get a copy of the entire program?
Exhibitors will all be receiving an Exhibitor Kit approximately 2 months prior to the show, which will include a full program of this event.
 
Attendees will be receiving an Attendee Information Package upon arrival to Security Canada Central.
 
Can I see the full schedule before I arrive onsite?
Yes, on the website, www.securitycanadaexpo.com, there will be a full schedule of events posted.
 
What is the dress code?
Attire for Security Canada Central is business casual. Remember comfort is key, as you will be on your feet most of the day!
 
Will childcare be provided?
Childcare services will NOT be provided at Security Canada Central.  Please make other arrangements if you require childcare as children under age 18 are not allowed on the show floor.

Is the Toronto Congress Centre accessible for persons with disabilities?

The Toronto Congress Centre’s aim is to meet every client’s needs.  The TCC complies with the regulations set by the Barrier Free Code of Ontario as well as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
 
What about washroom access?
The TCC provides accessible washroom stalls.  The Centre also has unisex washrooms to accommodate persons with special needs and their attendant.

Registration

Where can I get a registration form?
You may register online, via fax, or mail.  Please note that registration online is fast and easy and completely secure. www.securitycanadaexpo.com
 
What is included in my registration fee?
The Exposition fee includes entrance into the Exposition and all Manufacturers Training Sessions (MTS).  There is a separate fee for attending the Conference sessions.
 
What is the deadline for registration?
You are able to register online until October 6, 2010. After this date, registration is only available on-site. Onsite registration opens at 8:00am.
 
How can I register for Security Canada Central?
Online:
Internet registration is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Payment via credit card must accompany the registration form if you are registering for the conference sessions. www.securitycanadaexpo.com.
 
You may also register onsite. The registration booth will open at 8:00am.
 
How do I know if I’m registered?
We do not pre-register anyone. You must register yourself every year to attend. Once you register we will issue a confirmation via email within 48 hours. If you do not receive a confirmation please contact us at staff@canasa.org
 
Do I have to register for each individual session? Are sessions ticketed?
No, the price includes all sessions and you can choose at the beginning of each time slot which session you will attend.
 
How will I receive my badge?
If you have pre-registered then your badge will be waiting for you at the pre-registration desk at the entrance of Security Canada Central.
If you are registering onsite, you will receive your badge when you register.
 
What if I need to cancel my registration?

Housing & Travel

What hotel in Toronto is the official Security Canada Central hotel?

The Doubletree International Plaza Hotel is our official hotel for this event.  

All bookings before August 16, either phone or online are eligible for an early bird rate of $122, a $10 savings.

They are located within minutes from the airport and are directly across the street from the exposition facility.  There is a shuttle between the hotel and the airport, which is complimentary. When arriving at Toronto Pearson International Airport Terminal 1 go to post pickup S5 or P3, if arriving at Terminal 3 go to post pickup C22. The shuttle is a white 25 seat bus, with the Doubletree by Hilton logo on both sides of the bus.   

Note: The shuttle runs every 30 minutes (top and bottom of the hour) between 3:30am to 1:30am.    
 
Remember to book early, but please do not book more rooms than you require as the association is penalized for rooms blocked but not used. The deadline for reservations is September 23. In order to receive the preferred rate you must indicate that you are with the “Security Canada” group.
 
How far is the hotel from the convention centre?  
The hotel is located directly across the street from the convention centre, approximately a 2 minute walk.
